A teaser for the Small Storytellers latest documentary.

Fusing 3d imaging and rigorous quantum mechanics, dS transforms people into energy fields and lets them wander through the nano-quantum world, where they trigger sounds and images. There’s no limit on the number of “players”, and the more they cooperate, the more engrossing it becomes.

If you are looking to gain experience working part-time with a small, busy, creative independent film production company then get in touch!

We have rough edits that need assembling, short films that need submitting to film festivals world wide and running work on a couple of new docs that we are currently shooting – Shooting in and around Bristol and Wales.


This is an unpaid position
You need to be familiar with FCP/Photoshop and own your own mac running FCP7
You must commit to at least two days a week for one month
You must be willing to carry a bit of kit when on shoots
You WILL NOT be required to make tea for any of our team

The Claw @ Encounters 2012 (UK’s biggest short film festival)

We are delighted to announce that The Claw will screen in competition at (the UK’s biggest short film festival) 18-23 September. http://www.encounters-festival.org.uk/ It’s been a long, strange journey getting the film finished and some nips and tucks are required before signing it off, but we’d like to extend our thanks to everyone who supported the film. A new look website and PR to support the film’s festival run will be unveiled soon.

Tom Mansfield’s short film ‘Felixs Maachines’ – Quake’, has been shortlisted for the Pushing Boundaries award at this years . The new Pushing Boundaries category celebrates the innovative application of live-action, design and animation techniques to everything from top-end branded content to personal experimental pieces. Often sparse in dialogue but heavy on clever ideas and creativity the category highlights the very best work (under 5min in length) produced by the most original, artistic and technical minds in the industry.

ELVIS – Getting down to business!

In 2010, The Small Storytellers teamed up with Birdhouse Films and headed for sunny Porthcawl to shoot a documentary looking behind the scenes of the worlds largest Elvis impersonator festival. We tried to get it commissioned but after much time and energy spent, and no joy, we put it aside as other priorities took over.

Now, 2 years on, the ball is rolling and we’re making the film for festivals.

The Claw – Final Push

Currently editing ’7 Stones’, an independent documentary produced and directed by Conor McCormack and Becky Bell.

7 Stones comprises of interwoven documentary and drama elements; a powerful short film written in collaboration with Palestinian children and an emotive real life journey through Bethlehem’s fragmented landscape. The film attempts to look beyond the complex political situation in the region to focus on one of the human stories that for the most part remain untold.

Silent Scream wins at the BFI

Silent Scream has won the Young Voice award at the Frist Light Awards 2012. Some of the young women who made Silent Scream travelled down from Bristol to London to attend the award ceremony.

Actor and celebrity Rupert Friend presented the young women with their award and they gave an impressive acceptance speech. After the ceromony the young women talked to the media about the government’s refusal to take FGM seriously and their hope that this award will raise awareness of the issue.

The Claw is well on the way to being complete. We now have a cut that we will be test screening and refining over the next month before going into the final stages of post-production (Grade/special effects and dub). We are very happy with the result and it can only get better. As soon as we know more, you’ll know more!

‘The Swimmer’ – Pre-production has begun!

The Small Storytellers have begun pre-production of their next short ‘The Swimmer’. Set in Bristol, the film tells the story of a man fixated on a female swimmer and his uncontrollable urges to touch her skin.

The Claw

Happy New Year Claw friends! Thanks to all involved in making/supporting the film in 2011. After an initial delay due to the Claw team moving straight into another production (‘Worms’, shot in Mid-Wales in October), we now have a 14 min rough cut which will be cut to 10 mins this month and go to the sound designer in February. Watch this space!!!

SILENT SCREAM has been nominated for the 2012 Young Voice at the . This year (American Beauty), (Slumdog Millionaire) and (Harry Potter) on this year’s judging panel. Congratulations everyone – one of three nominations!!!

A short film by , a partnership with and edited by me. SILENT SCREAM is a drama-documentary made by 27 young women who attend schools in the Bristol area. Its primary aim is to persuade the communities that the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM) must stop. Over 20,000 girls could be at risk of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the UK.
